About Knitting Yarn - Merino Wool
Merino wool
Merino wool is made from the fleece of the Merino breed of sheep. Known for its fine, soft fibers, Merino wool is highly regarded as one of the highest quality wools available. It has excellent moisture-wicking properties, keeping the fabric dry even when you sweat. Additionally, Merino wool provides excellent heat retention by absorbing moisture and reducing heat loss. This combination of warmth and moisture-wicking allows it to release absorbed sweat, which cools the body and makes it surprisingly suitable for summer wear. Furthermore, Merino wool is naturally water-repellent, resistant to water-soluble stains, and possesses antibacterial and deodorizing effects due to its natural immune properties.
Fabric texture
Merino wool has a very smooth and soft texture, and is less likely to cause the prickly sensation often associated with traditional wool fabrics.
